Artist Statement
Creating a work of art and beauty from something Nature has provided is truly a gift. Following the spirit of the wood in developing the sculpture, while still leaving the essence of the tree, is a truly magical experience. While Nature is the best artist, we are privileged to enhance her beauty and share the results with others.
Having spent 25 years in a career in corporate finance, and holding degrees from Strayer College of Finance, and an M.S. from University of Nebraska, coming to the Pacific Northwest and finding my “right brain” has been so rewarding. Once I learned about wood sculpting, there was no turning back.
I have displayed my work in numerous arenas and have been the featured artist in “Living on the Peninsula Magazine”, “Peninsula Woman” and published twice in “Tidepools Magazine”. In 2018 one of my sculptures traveled to India with the WA Lt. Governor who presented it to the Dalai Lama as a gift representing our State. While receiving other awards for my work, this was perhaps the highlight of my artist career! I believe that if you love something you should share it, so I am always happy to share my work with others, and offer classes in this unique art form.
