Artist Statement
Nature plays an integral role in all my artwork. In this time when violence and discord seem so common, I want my art to represent a better world with more magic, harmony, and hope. I try through art to help people connect with nature and bring a reflection to appreciate how wonderful our planet is, that realized that we are in danger of losing it, and how urgent is the need to preserve it.
Woodcut is my favorite medium because it is a slow process. It allows me a lot of time to think and plan my art from the initial step of drawing, to carving and then to the final printing process. I have a press but I enjoy making prints by hand with a wooden spoon or baren. The printing process in my prints is in layers. I use transparent colored inks with overlapping aided by templates that I prepare myself. I hope my artwork brings you light.
