Artist Statement

As a biologist, I have spent years working in close contact with the outdoors and wild nature. I developed a deep-seated love of the beauty of wood, water and stone. These are the core elements that inspired me to become a woodworker. Mostly self-taught, I create both functional and decorative boxes and bowls which include a variety of wood types, as well as wood embellished by texturing, adding copper, stones and painting.

I search out unusual and beautiful pieces of wood. The boxes reflect a balance between the design and the natural qualities of the wood. Each box is unique, completely handmade, and signed.
